According to Acting Met Chief Sir Paul Stephenson speaking at City Hall, it was Jill Pay, the Serjeant At Arms, who gave written permission for the search.

If this is true, then she should be dismissed immediately and a servant to the state instated who reinforces the character of generations of the office's predecessors.
The destruction of this office has only re-enforced all the prejudice of sex, class and character that Labour has dragged us down to.
