France to repatriate 140 more Roma
Members belonging to the Roma community take shelter in a hall in Choisy-le-Roi, outside Paris
Although the Roma are EU citizens – mostly from Bulgaria and Romania – they
need to have a work permit if they stay in France for more than three months
or prove they have the means to support themselves.
Those who do not wish to return voluntarily receive an order to leave France
with which they must comply within a month or face forced repatriation –
without the cash handout.
France was preparing to repatriate nearly another 140 Roma, a day after almost 100 were flown back to Romania under a controversial crackdown ordered by President Nicolas Sarkozy. |

Over ten years ago on British Television, there were stories on Roma families living off shop lifting in and near London. We were told that there was nothing we could do because of the EU. Both France and Spain have always proven this a lie. Without a 'residensia' in Spain the local police could lift you and remove you at will. Had Labour the courage to uphold law we would have been covered by those same procedural practices.
Arrivederci Romas.
