Gas up another 8% and the politicians are silent

We are entering another period of Mumbo-Jumbo, where real debate is silenced by ignorance and bias, where the Schizophrenics ill-perceived angst reveals more about their inner terrors than other people’s needs who just want to get on with things.  This near institutionalised Schizophrenia, so adored by sections of the British ‘don’t do that’ element, is determined to handcuff the rest of society into believing that to do nothing will solve all our problems.  Flower power is back and blossoming in the empty heads of those who have always had more than a laissez faire attitude to reality.

This nation is running out of fuel even though we are living over centuries of coal deposits.  They want to build three million more houses without any consideration of the roads needed, the good land permanently taken out of food production, the energy required to heat these dwellings, the sewerage and waste generated and in need of disposal and all the other negative affects on an already overcrowded land.  The demand that everyone has to be home owners is part of the modern myth that this is best for society, but no-one ever mentions the fact that workers will not seek employment more that a short drive from their palaces. That immediately impacts on the working status of house owners and the ability of industry to regenerate to pay for all the goodies that the Socialists demand we give to everyone.  Strange how these champagne socialists adore and eulogise immigrants who travel thousands of mile to fill jobs that Fred Blogs wont do because he’s not got access to a car, or his backs sore, or he gets more off the Brew than he can get picking spring onions.  Nor will they address the reality that more and more MEN will pay for twenty years or more towards a home then never have the chance to live in it because of divorce or a break-up of a relationship, at which time many men are too old to be able to get another mortgage.

We live and always have lived in a time of perpetual change; it just so happens that technology is increasing the rates of change.  We can either accept it or we can go back to living in caves, of which there are insufficient in these Islands to house the 66 million inhabitants.  As Europe closes our power generating capacity, Governments ignore the possible building of modern, safe nuclear plants which use thorium.  Thorium?  Thanks to the internet you can Wiki read for yourselves.
As for FRACKING!  When Ukip invited ALL the interested parties to discuss this in the Fylde area only last year, only the fracking company Cuadrilla turned up and answered all Ukips queries.  NOT a single political figure turned up from the Conservative, Labour or Lib/Dems.  That tells you all you need to know about your elected representatives; too busy checking their expenses and counting their future pension benefits?  Well, maybe!

Protestors and future opponents to the industry forget one simple fact.  The poison spewing into the atmosphere and killing the planet comes mainly from the natural fissures, volcanoes and the likes around the world and greatly is more dangerous and toxic than all the polluting factories of Brazil, Indian, China and Indonesia put together.  Natural disasters occur all too regularly and for some reason are instantly forgotten by the Nimby brigade.  Perhaps if we stopped the socialist teachers brainwashing  the next generation with their half truths, make them teach English, mathematics and true British history, the rate of literacy will climb to an acceptable level for a country that has provided more intellectuals to the world than all others except perhaps Israel?

Me Brother Patrick

Me brother Paddy thought his new girlfriend might be the one, but after looking through her knickers drawer and finding a nurse's outfit, a French maids outfit, and a police woman's uniform, he finally decided if she can't hold down a job, she's not for him!

Council v Government - and it stinks

In a Twitter I read today, Leeds to switch off main street lighting from tonight, it sparked a memory from my youth of the the two major political protagonist using the same threats under similar circumstances. Let me explain the game that is being played in Leeds. Central Government has pronounced an edict that savings have to be made. Leeds Council have published their cuts and announced it can go no further without switching off the lights of the city. The idea is for one to embarrass the other as an election approaches and the losers will be the gullible electorate. That is not going to happen.

This situation is terrible, but it is also very false. It is avoidable because it is contrived. It is all part of the cynical political game.

To threaten the vulnerability of the city, the Council is relying on the basis that the government cannot allow such an event to happen because of dire consequences to the vulnerable Leeds occupant. The Government for their part expects that any council would withdraw such a threat because the consequences are so dire and only a barbaric mind would execute such an order. If the lights are turned off crime will rise and the old and disabled become the targets of the unscrupulous and the heartless. Except in this instance the unscrupulous and heartless are the two protagonist, the coalition Government and the Labour city council.

How matters turn out will depend, not on the poker game, but on the veracity of the opposing arguments. History has decreed that neither Conservatives nor Labour have a good record when it comes to telling the mindless masses the truth. Not that the masses are now so mindless. With a third party prepared and willing to expose the Game Masters for their lies, it is harder, as Ukip alone revealed in the European Parliament. To hide behind the thoughtless minorities who bow at the alter of the Parties egos and fable telling to the detriment of the ordinary people is now no longer an option. Party posturing means more that the welfare of the people. Just look a the Mid Staffs Health Authority and the chess game as culpable management seeks asylum in other authorities over paid sanctuaries. And those so guilty of neglect appear to find it easy to move from one overpaid cabal into another. Surely enough is enough?

If Leeds needs to save more money, start in the Council offices with the fat cat executives that grow wealthy whilst the average citizen struggles on an ever dwindling pay packet. Reduce the over costly bureaucracy to a level below that of the Prime Minister, as should be done in every council chamber in the country, then watch as cost tumble. Cut the salaries of the senior executives to that proportionately below the salary of the Prime Minister, issue all staff with bus passes and free the parking lots up for traders and shoppers. Take the people back into the town centres by making them use public services. If they have to commute, let them pay for it out of the salaries as other workers do, like soldiers, nurses and health visitors.

Will this happen? Not under the two parties so shamelessly responsible for all the ills that have befallen us.

Democracy according to John Adams

Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide. The jaws of power are always open to devour, and her arm is always stretched out, if possible, to destroy the freedom of thinking, speaking, and writing. Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the People, who have... a right, an indisputable, unalienable, indefeasible, divine right to that most dreaded and envied kind of knowledge, I mean the characters and conduct of their rulers. There is danger from all men. The only maxim of a free 'government' ought to be to trust no man living with power to endanger the public liberty. Liberty cannot be preserved without general knowledge among people - John Adams.

In my short lifetime we have experienced a Nation Unfit for Heroes - thanks to the politician.  We have witnessed the decline of major industries because they were screaming for modernisation and investment.  We were given, as a fait accompli, mass immigration and absolutely no say in it.  The  street where my grandparents gave birth to my uncles and aunt now no longer house a European face.  In many ways that is not my concern, but the denial that another culture which does not accept nor understand our ancient ways is not a threat, that bothers me.  Hard working people deserve the rewards of their labour, if it is obtained legally.

It is, again, for that reason that I stood for the United Kingdom Independence Party (Ukip).  There are more and the next decisive point is the strict following of party lines by the three active Party's that have ruined my country.  As I keep saying to my colleagues it is the investigation and challenging of the statements made by officials and senior politicians that will return to the great British people the right of Self Determination.  Not the mindless acceptance of everything that emanates from Public Office and Officials.
I am not a politician nor do I espouse to be.  I am the voice of sanity in a world where subjugation overpowers British reason because the noisiest wins the debate, not the argument.

Blackpool Highfield Ward since the election

In Blackpool, as with most other councils, we sway from Pournelle’s conclusive winners, Labour, to equally sinister ideologues, the Tories, without considering his second alternative.  I believe Ukip offers a viable and honest alternative, but with a more realistic approach to matters. A quick glance at the back slapping political gatherings serves only to reinforce such an opinion. Few fair minded individuals could honestly say that the Utopian promises offered by any of these  three charlatans was anything more than cake to the starving masses. It is unfortunate that so many spent so much of their own money and their time without being able to express an opinion. There is no free and open debate amongst the Old Political elite.  You really have to be old to remember honest and entertaining exchange of views amongst people in the same political party.  That too has been outlawed.

But coming from Blackpool we were so accustomed to seeing the Labour tribes mass behind the faceless leaders who gorged themselves on free handouts and Union expenses. No doubt the Conference Centres around the country are now experiencing much more of the same.
That is the legacy of the three-party state which the United Kingdom Independence Party has to eradicate; not just for the good of the fair minded people of Britain, but for all free thinking and generous people wherever they may abide. Council by-election results are showing that there is a new energy in Britain, and that it is coming from Ukip and those prepared to think for themselves.

In Highfield we offered this alternative and the electorate chose to stay at home and watch Eastenders! Labour gloats at a miserable 27% turnout and like Nero fiddles whilst Blackpool plunges further into decline. There is no place for political parties in the rough-house of commercial enterprise other than to act as final referee. That means electing councillors who have the nous and the courage to say to the Party Mechanics that certain things are wrong. Can this be said of those who currently represent the electorate? Not in Blackpool they cannot.

Look at the other by-elections and the conclusion must be that the Lib/Dems are now dead as a political entity. Has politics disillusioned so many so severely? Yes it has. It is the trio of Cameron, Clegg and Milibrand who are to blame along with a biased BBC that gives little space to any of the groups which challenge Auntie’s left wing bias. Add to this quartet the Lib/Lab/Con trick and you have the perfect recipe for the perpetuation of self-serving and cronyistic Government.

In the Highfield Ward the council officials have chosen to make life miserable for an 85 year old character, a former Highland Regiment soldier and a genial personality much loved by his neighbours. What has the Council done? It has taken the word of a curtain peeper  with mental problems to prevent “The Veteran” from walking his miniature dogs on the grass. But just a few yards away the Council cannot or will not stop youngsters from committing criminal damage on private property because they do not feel so inclined. And on an adjacent ward the criminal occupation of property is allowed as the Council is delaying legal action against the perpetrators, who are well known Labour supporters! What does that mean in English? It means that “the Old Soldier” gets the undeserving stick of council mismanagement, while Labour’s allies do what they want and Councillors check their expenses to ensure that their pension funds are paid!

Forgive me, I forgot: the Councillors have not informed us that they can legitimately top up their pension funds through maximizing their expense claims. Now, are not expenses supposed to cover only legitimate out of pocket costs for services to the community? Not according to this legislation which all councils, understandably, keep from the public they are supposed to be serving.

What rules in Blackpool?

“Pournelle’s Iron Law of Bureaucracy”. Who was/is Pournelle? I’ve no idea!

… in any bureaucratic organization there will be two kinds of people: those who work to further the actual goals  of the organization, and those who work for the organization itself. Examples in education would be teachers who work and sacrifice to teach children, versus union representatives who work to protect any teacher, including the most incompetent. The Iron Law states that in all cases the second type of person will always gain control of the organization, and always write the rules under which the organization functions.”

Reads like any Labour authority.

Eternal Life

A guy is walking along Blackpool Beach when he comes across an old oil-lamp partially buried in the sand.
He picks up the lamp and gives it a rub. A genie appears and tells him he has been granted one wish.
The guy thinks for a moment and says, "I want to live forever."
"Sorry," said the genie, "I'm not allowed to grant eternal life."
"OK, then, I want to die after Labour balances the budget and eliminates the debt."
"Clever little bugger!" said the genie.

Police go easy on sex offenders, report shows

More than 1,000 sex offenders have received police cautions in the east of England rather than face court proceedings, it has emerged.(http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-22335575)
The figures, obtained by the BBC via a Freedom of Information request, reveal some of those cautioned admitted rape.
Police say cautions for serious offences are only issued under certain circumstances.
But abuse charities have said there should be a "zero tolerance" approach to crimes such as rape.
A caution is a formal warning issued by police to someone who has admitted a criminal offence. Intended for "low-level offending", cautions are issued at the discretion of police and enable a sanction to be given without going before the courts.

burglar
  • The Ministry of Justice defines a caution as "an out of court disposal given by the police to adult criminals when specified criteria are met. It is designed to be used for "low-level offending"
  • Some sex offences are considered to meet this criteria. For instance, Essex Police issued a caution following a report by a third party in which the victim was "uncooperative" despite the offender "admitting their part". The majority of such cases involve people in their early 20s or late teens
  • In the east of England during the past five years, 1,321 cautions have been issued for house burglaries
  • Cautions have also been issued for fraud, robbery, arson, endangering life, voyeurism, cruelty to children and incest

Police forces across the east of England have issued cautions for arson, house burglary, fraud and child abuse through prostitution or pornography.

Having just fought a local election, this story is offensive as Labour hoisted its petard on a promise that it will eventually protect children.  I will let their abysmal record stand for itself None of the other parties have much to brag about as they will not even mention those being tiptoed into the Courts.  So silent now, but they really shouted the virtues of their favourite "rogues".

I conclude with this from the letter from my friend in Kenya. I’d like to finish this letter with a completely irreverent thought, sent to me by a good friend in SA, “When you are dead you don’t know it. It is difficult only for the others. It is the same thing when you are stupid”.

Stay safe, Dear Friend.

A letter from Kenya

I received this letter via the father of a Kenyan White Farmer, a close and dear friend whose children still live in darkening Africa.  I perhaps should not say he is white, but we are so over sensitised that race and colour have become a byword for hate instead of fact.
I will send this on to Gordon Marsden MP but he will not reply, to give him first hand copy of what the people of Kenya are going through.  There will be much talktalk in Westminster and little sense, but I do hope that my friend's epistle strikes a nerve on a Party that took us to Wars on Dodgy Disinformation.

I have redacted some parts to protect the identity of a thoroughly decent man and his lovely family.

Hello friends,

This afternoon it seems as if terrorists have attacked one of Nairobi’s fancy malls and mayhem ensues in the best African tradition. This Westgate Mall has for some years now been considered a prime spot for an attack by terrorists, frequented as it is by UN operatives, embassy staff and the more affluent type of Nairobian. Time will tell just how severe this siege will prove.  Certainly, it’s been on the cards for some time. So much so, I’m a little surprised that the cameras were not already recording the event even as it was initiated. I’m less surprised that it took the police fully 30 minutes to respond to the crisis. The traffic in Nairobi goes beyond my paltry abilities to describe it.

Just over a month ago some of you might have noticed that the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport burned down. I was on my way towards the airport industrial at about 6am area even as the first ambulances went screaming past at 60km/h on their way to fetch the first of the (mercifully few) casualties. Apparently a rather modest fire had started in the International Arrivals area at about 4am. We still don’t know why. The last major flight having landed and been processed some hours earlier, the on-site firemen, as is their inexplicable habit, had knocked off and disappeared into their various warrens situated around Nairobi. No other emergency staff was available and the poor janitors left in command of the airport were unfamiliar with the expired fire extinguishers and so the blaze was allowed to run un-checked until such time as the fire brigade could be roused from their snug beds in Nairobi and taken to the airport in taxis. To complicate proceedings it seems that several of the fire-engines had been sold off to pay for servicing debts. The few remaining functional ones were initially kept out of the fray for fear of making them dirty because it was, you see, National Fire Awareness Week that particular week and, so we’re told, the engines had been earmarked to participate in a parade through town later on that same day. In truth though, the destruction of that airport has done us all a great favour and we may hope that if a new one is built, by whichever fortunate Chinese contractor is given that job, it is a functional one.

On a more personal note I have been extremely busy at work. The entire management team (barring a few contented types) resigned from           en-masse and we have started our own export veg producing enterprise. My 30 pieces of silver include a bloody great V8 Toyota Landcruiser and a (small) share of the new company, g          Ltd. I’m not sure which is worth more.   We even made an offer to the current owners of            to buy out their company but, lamentably, it was not well received. Too bad. So now we must part ways with no lack of acrimony, muttered allegations of improper conduct and promises of legal action. I shake in my boots so that I can barely piss straight. But I am excited by the prospect of starting off this new business and so far things have gone well. We have a great team, ample investment, are making good progress in the market and our plantings look just dandy.

 29th Sept 2013

A week has passed since the horrific attack on the Westgate Mall. The opening paragraphs of this letter seem so trite, now we are beginning to learn of the full horror of the events surrounding the attack and subsequent siege. The attack has badly shaken all strata of Kenyan society, it seems that no matter who you talk to they know somebody who was either there at the Westgate Mall or is somehow indirectly affected by the events occurring since the 21st of September. For me a persistent feeling of dread and anxiety has taken root and seems in no hurry to leave, however positive I try to remain about the issue. And, why shouldn’t it? When you hear firsthand accounts of the mutilations of hostages, the systematic executions of children in front of their parents and such it’s only human, I think, to be affected by it. Only the inhuman amongst us could do such things or not be moved, one way or another, by the vileness of the attack.

I know one man who died there. Ashish Shah was a spare parts trader in Nairobi. He was nothing less than a pleasure to deal with, his demeanor always professional, humourous and respectful. He could make things happen when his competitors couldn’t, or wouldn’t, and his small part in my life was and is well appreciated. He died after entering the Mall with a few of his friends, armed only with pistols, to try and get people out. It makes me sick that such decent people are taken and filth remains.

To make things worse, the much repeated slogan, repeated by the Kenyan PR machine assembled to put a gloss on this attack and the local authority’s response to it, that “we are one” rings hollow when you read of the behavior of the police and armed forces that were sent in to end the siege. It seems that some of the heroic and gallant members of the KDF preferred to loot the bodies of the dead and the up market stores in the mall, rather than face the admittedly difficult task of hunting down the killers.  Chaos still rules, bodies have not been released to kin, recrimination and allegations about the handling of the siege are beginning to be aired publicly between competing state organs. There is as yet absolutely no certainty just how many people were killed, nor, I think, will there ever be. But, such is life in Kenya. We accept it, for now, and hope it won’t happen to us. Forgive me if I seem bitter.

It’s not all bad; in truth the different communities which make up this country have come together. So many people lined up to donate blood that many were turned away. There is ample footage, however awful, showing people of all races helping each other where it was possible to escape or survive the attack. For now, the president is asking Kenyans to remain unified and not take out their anger against the large Somali population located throughout the country. Perhaps, by this show of solidarity, Kenya could yet show the world how the evil of extremist Islam may be defeated.

******* has now reached boarding age. We set up his bed and cupboard in his dorm at his school ******** and let him decide when he would want to start staying nights at the school. I was only a little perturbed when, after hesitating for a week, he climbed right in, insisting on staying at least twice a week. He was also the only kid on his dorm who howled when mom came to take him away home for exeat.  Perhaps the other parents think we beat him at home?

Today we went for a short walk on the farm. It happened that the farm football team, the L****** K*********, were playing at home to a neighbouring farm and we stood on the sidelines to watch. The kids played tag with the hordes of raggedy workers kids, the dogs chased up and down. L***** scored from a penalty. Life, for the moment, seems quite normal. I sincerely hope that by the time I write another letter it will be rather less angry and more cheerful. I apologize if what is written here seems at any point offensive, it isn’t meant to be. But, I do feel, for reasons I can’t properly explain, that I should just send this out to you all. We are OK, the kids are happy and healthy and we will remember that we are lucky to be alive in this place, amongst these people.

I’d like to finish this letter with a completely irreverent thought, sent to me by a good friend in SA, “When you are dead you don’t know it. It is difficult only for the others. It is the same thing when you are stupid”.

Blackpool South Ukip Invictus

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
