Vanishing shirt trick

Whatever happen to the ENGLAND shirt donated to the FESLC for the Veteran Charities?

A shirt, believed to be donated by Mr Whelan of JJB Sports who generously provides a retail outlet now use by Shop for Soldiers (Buy One and Get a retd replica FREE), is the subject of another 'who has done what and when' by the FESLC.

The shirt, signed by the entire English rugby side (Union or League is not divulged) which was to be auctioned for Charity has disappeared along with any monies.

Entries in the FESLC accounts of 5th August 2010 show an entry and withdrawal of £500 for Rugby shirts. The shirt, said to be the subject of an auction, is reported to have been sold for £500 to a Mr Unknown. A bid of a thousand pounds was rejected because it was "a telephone bid".

What is baffling accountants and those with a background in book-keeping is the sloppy method of recording the flow of goods and services through the books. It is being stated that Trading Standards are happy with the books as presented. Wasn't Slippery Yates happy when he went before a committee in the Commons? He certainly is not now. Nor are lots of servicemen and women in Blackpool.

Perhaps it is just a clerical error and we'll find it all in the Kensington file?
