It is with deep regret that the Ministry of Defence must confirm that a British airman was killed in Basra, southern Iraq yesterday, Friday 29 February 2008.
The airman, who was attached to 903 Expeditionary Air Wing, Royal Air Force, died as a result of a rocket attack on the Contingency Operating Base in Basra.
The airman’s next of kin have been informed and have requested a period of 24 hours before further details are released.
So much for former Minister Dr Read telling the public that the troops would be home in a few months, and that was how many years ago?
