My Conservative Party?

"All I ask of you, when you leave this conference, is to be so committed that this becomes your life." - IDS proves, yet again, that there's no leader the Tories love more than an ex-leader. Unless it's Ted Heath, of course.

"Everyone is talking about the speech Iain gave tonight and absolutely everyone is talking about how the tears flooded their eyes and the hairs on the back of their neck rose. There is a lady on my table who is in tears now - she has said that her hands are still hurting from clapping and the only reason people sat down was because Iain began to look embarrassed by the length of his standing ovation... Every now and then you meet someone who is kind and good and true and selfless, Iain is one of those, and everyone in the Winter Gardens today suddenly realised that, and a quiet man roared." - Nadine Dorries is very, very sorry that she ever doubted the Quiet Man's ability to lead.

"Sometimes they're still not listening and we're still being patronised." - A delegate at the Conservative Women's Organisation meeting.

Now the party is eulogising over IDS and his oft quoted mission to Rhodesia, I will remind you of a fact. I do not remember IDS being in Rhodesia. Does anyone?

Labour has proved itself unfit, but why is the Tory lot still so hated?

Because they still patronise? Because they select faceless nonentities as deligates? Maybe they try to be all things to all people? Maybe, just maybe, they do not understand the meaning of Conservatism.
