BLACKPOOL Council is to axe up to 1,000 jobs in wake of the Government's spending review.
Council Leader Peter Callow today announced the authority has begun consultation with trade unions on between 800 and 1,000 job losses as it prepares to cut £32m off its budget ahead of the next financial year.
A first round of meetings has taken place with further discussions set to take place in the coming weeks.
A formal notice has been sent to the Government and the Trades Unions outlining the proposals as part of the formal 90-day consultation.Read more at www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk
