Scam warnings over festive season

Trading Standards Warnings(for Blackpool and Fylde residents)

21 December 2011

Cold Weather Warnings & Current Scams

Cold calling for property repairs during bad weather
Lancashire residents are to be warned not to do business with doorstep callers who may offer to carry out repairs to property after the spell of bad weather.  A lady in the Lytham St Annes area recently paid £6,000 for some roof repairs when in fact no work had been carried out.

As usual, the advice is to only use reputable trades people, rather than cold callers who may not give correct details.  For help in finding a trader to carry out property repairs, contact Help Direct on 0303 333 1111 or go to www.safetrader.org.uk.

Telesales for security systems
Currently Preston and Broughton areas are reporting receiving telephone calls from a business offering to fit security alarms, falsely claiming to be working with the Police.  The business will make an appointment to call at your home.

Trading Standards advice is to say no to such sales visits, which can often use high pressure selling techniques to get you to sign up.  Telesales calls can be significantly reduced by joining the Telephone Preference Service, to register for this free service ring 0845 0700707.

Energy prepayment cards
Reports have been received of door to door sales of half price energy pre payment cards for household meters.  Do not be tempted to buy these over the doorstep – they will not work and you will have to pay again for the legitimate card.

Unsolicited shower fitting
Lancashire residents are receiving a card through their doors advising their shower fitting is on the way, if you do not want it please contact us within 10 days with your name and address details.  This is a legitimate company, the shower fitting is free but Trading Standards advice is beware of who you pass your personal details onto.

Please also be aware you are under no duty to return any unsolicited goods received and you do not have to pay for them.

Unsolicited energy saving devices
Householders throughout the country are receiving telesales calls claiming to be their energy supplier or working in partnership with them, offering a plug in device which they say can save them 40 per cent off their energy bills.  The device costs £99.

Trading Standards have had a number of the items tested which not only fail to satisfy electrical safety but do not deliver any tangible energy savings.

Hong Kong Bank Scam
This banking scam is still doing the rounds, currently in Lytham St Annes and Ormskirk.  The personally addressed letter explains that a client with the same name as the recipient has died and left $6.8 million unclaimed.

Hiu Au-Yeung suggests that the recipient could receive 50% of this sum, just for providing their details so that the money can be transferred out of Hong Kong . The letter asks for no money or details at this point but similar scams rely on asking for money to pay for administrative details and using the victim's bank details to steal from their account.

Earlier this month, Trading Standards warned of a similar scam involving a letter purporting to be from Pan Wang Ong, from the Hung Kai Finance Company in Hong Kong .

Refer any complaints to Lancashire Trading Standards Service, Room D21, County Hall, Preston, Lancs PR1 3NU via Consumer Direct tel 08454 040506.

Truth behind the Winter Payment fuel subsidy

Npower fined £2m over complaints 31October 2011

Npower has been fined £2m by the energy regulator for failing to handle complaints properly.
Ofgem handed down the fine after investigations found that npower had failed to record all the required details of complaints receieved and failed to provide customers whose compalints it could not resolve with some key details about the redress service provide by the Energy Ombudsman.
The provider also failed in some respects to put in place adequate policies and processes for dealing with complaints in an efficient and timely manner, according to the regulator. Ofgem says npower has addressed and remedied all the breaches of the regulations identified.
The move comes after the regulator fined British Gas £2.5m in July this year for breach of the same regulations. Ofgem has also revealed it is investigating the way in which EDF Energy handles complaints.
A spokesperson for npower says a small number of processes were not correctly adhered to.
He says: “Ofgem is now satisfied that all problems have been rectified and we are fully compliant with our obligations to our customers. We have zero tolerance for this type of issue and we’ll continue to work hard to make sure our customers are put first.”
Sarah Harrison, Ofgem’s senior partner for sustainable development, says: “Consumers have a right to expect that energy companies will comply with the standards. Npower failed to do so and although it took remedial action, it has incurred a penalty for failing consumers.
“Energy suppliers now have a golden opportunity to convince consumers that they can be trusted, by getting behind Ofgem’s sweeping reforms for the retail market. This is the quickest way of restoring consumer trust in an industry badly tarnished by poor supplier behaviour.”

Npower, in receipt of information from Government departments reference the subsidy of tax payers money towards Winter Fuel costs, sit glibly at the end of the telephone line and do not address the concerns of customers whose bills they increased by 30%.  What is so insidious is that Npower already knows which of their customer’s bills they were going to increase.  That 30% increase is then explained in a letter to the distressed customer as an act of overwhelming charity to the customer in that subsidy to a select few.

Not a word of truth.  Npower will be paid twice and the tax payer picks up the convoluted arithmetic formula that will see the electrical supply companies profits swell at the expense of everyone.  Like windpower being a viable source of electrical generation, just pure propaganda.

Another warning on bailiffs

Bailiffs to increase debtors' fees as councils seek cut of profit

Harrow council expects to raise £1m by making bailiffs hand over 8% of their fees. Photograph: Graham Turner for the Guardian

Increasing numbers of households struggling with debts such as unpaid council tax will face the extra burden of rising fees levied on them by bailiffs after moves by councils to make more money from debt collection companies, according to bailiffs and advocates for vulnerable debtors.
The north-west London borough of Harrow expects to make £1m by making bailiffs hand over 8% of their fees. Other councils, under pressure to cope with austerity-driven cutbacks, are understood to be considering similar profit-sharing arrangements.

The move has been condemned by bailiff companies and by advocates for debt relief, who claim that it will lead to bailiffs pushing up fees and pursuing vulnerable people even more vociferously in an effort to maintain profits.
"It's going to create the level of competition that I don't believe should be created in an industry that has to deal with vulnerable people," said Jamie Waller, a bailiff and the founder of the JBW Group.

John Kruse, a leading expert on bailiff law in the UK, who also works for Citizens Advice in east London, agreed that the financial burden would be shouldered by vulnerable debtors. "What some of the more image-aware members of the sector are saying is that if bailiffs are asked to pay money to councils then that has to come from somewhere and the way it is going to be produced will be by bailiffs upping the fees that they are charging or being more aggressive about the way they chase people," he said. "The amounts that they collect at the moment are fees that they are allowed to collect by statute. That's their profit, so if the council is saying, 'We want to cut that profit now,' then it's either a case of the bailiffs making less money, which is unlikely, or they collect more money one way or another."

In this latest economic climate - brought about by poor Lieber governance - the burden on the most disadvantaged will increase exponentially as councils seek more ways of parting people with their money.
There are too many factors for one simple article to cover, but I shall try.
The case of vulnerability has been brushed under the legal carpet by everyone except victims and their families. Blackpool Magistrates courts pay lip service to combating what is fraud by a knowledgeable group of perpetual social claimants, rather than address their legal obligation and "duty of care" to real vulnerable people caught in the debtors trap. Charles Dickens would have had to work for a thousand years to write stories that cover the atrocities perpetrated by bailiffs on behalf of our dysfunctional legal system.

For Andy Miller, whose birthday should have been on the 24th of December, but who died when bailiffs ignored his frail disposition after he had suffered a stroke and heart attack just weeks earlier.

Thought Police strike again

It is alleged that a large group of homosexual MP's are to raise the matter that sexy Terry has not, repeat not shagged any of them so they want him further charged with homophobic tendencies. It will give his colleagues wives a chance to establish reasonable alibis for the time that they were absent from team training in the Captains suite.

A legal spokesman said that that lots of people were on his back. No. Up it. Statements were poorly reported by Rusty Morgan who said his Old Paper had not paid for the illegal telephone interception and that the page three girl was definitely over 16 and was not having an affair with an ancient Man U striker.

John Terry faces racism charge

Chelsea and England captain John Terry will be charged for allegedly racially abusing Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand in a Premier League match in October.
Terry will appear in court on 1 February and could be fined up to £2,500 if found guilty.
Police had been investigating a complaint that he racially abused Ferdinand, the younger brother of Terry's long-time international team-mate Rio, during Chelsea's 1-0 defeat.

Comment: The thuggery of Argentina's Falklands claim

Ian Dunt: 'The protection of peoples' self-determination to choose their own government is the protection of the weak from the strong.'
We are protecting the people of the Falklands from a foreign government whose claim to the territory is at the intellectual level of a five-year-old child.  By Ian Dunt

Argentina's (mostly illusionary) economic resurgence has a disappointing side-effect. It prompts regular bouts of sabre-rattling over the Falklands Islands.

Its glamorous president, Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, is prone to issuing tetchy attacks on Britain, not least of all her insistence that the UK is "a crass colonial power in decline". That last point is neither entirely false nor particularly interesting, but it is about 50 years out of date.

It's been getting worse recently. British licensed fishing boats are being intercepted by Argentina. It announced last year that boats sailing to or from the Falkland, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands would require permission to pass through Argentine water.

To help save the economy, next month the Government is to announce that the Immigration Department will start deporting seniors (instead of illegals) in order to lower Social Security and Medical costs.

Born Poor, Taxed to Death - unless you are...

"It is extremely disappointing that senior HMRC officials were not prepared to cooperate with our inquiry in a spirit of openness. We accept that there is a need for confidentiality to protect individual taxpayers, but this must not be used as a cloak to protect the department from scrutiny," Ms Hodge added.

It is shameful that Ms Hodge forgets to tell her public that this is but a part of the legacy of ineptitude left by her Lieber government. Small wonder our grandchildren will have to pay for her administrative stupidity.

UK Uncut vindicated? Commons report backs protest group

Officers try to stop UK Uncut activists occupying Fortnum and Mason's earlier this year. The groups arguments on corporate tax avoidance were largely vindicated by the Commons report.
Officers try to stop UK Uncut activists occupying Fortnum and Masons earlier this year. The groups arguments on corporate tax avoidance were largely vindicated by the Commons report.'
Allegations about tax avoidance in the highest echelons of the corporate world have been vindicated in a Commons report.

The public accounts committee (PAC) substantiated claims from UK Uncut, which campaigns against corporate tax avoidance, and suggested there are £25 billion of outstanding tax issues with big companies which Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has failed to deal with.

"This report is a damning indictment of HMRC and the way its senior officials handle tax disputes with large corporations," PAC chair Margaret Hodge said.

"We uncovered both specific and systemic failures which must be addressed."

The £25 billion bill alluded to in the report is bigger than the entire UK deficit in 2002 and only slightly below the £30 billion level in 2006.

The sum is equivalent to £1,000 for every British family or a cut of 6p from the basic rate of income tax.

Oz also having trouble with Medi records

The whole issue of Medical recording of patients information is a political hot-potato in every country that has tried to install digital regimes. One main problem it the complete lack of security and then the human failings of the criminal who will make massive and invasive attempts to use our data to satisfy his greed.

In a country as vast as Australia the problem is acute but often, thankfully, becomes visible before any damage can be done. The unfortunate paradox is that it cost fortunes to remedy.

It ought to be a matter of interest for all Health Authorities to combine their collective wisdom and share their knowledge, or lack of it, openly with each other, for the benefit of everyone and not a selective few entrepreneurs or digital sharks.

Time is running out on e-records, says GP body

AUSTRALIA'S leading GP organisation is warning time is running out for the federal government to explain how the system of electronic health records due to launch in July will work, with doctors now facing a "very, very tight" timetable to get it running.
The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, which represents 18,000 GPs nationally, is seeking an urgent meeting with new federal Health Minister Tanya Plibersek to discuss the problem, saying doctors now have no chance of getting the six-month head start they had requested to train staff and plan.
The Australian Medical Association is also seeking a meeting with Ms Plibersek, saying there were "still serious concerns about how (electronic records) are going to apply".
RACGP president Claire Jackson said GPs also wanted to be supported in bringing in the new system -- such as by an assurance that patients having their details uploaded to an electronic record for the first time would be eligible for a higher than usual Medicare rebate, to recognise the extra time doctors would have to spend checking details were correct.

Has Cameron grown Balls?

My father joined the Navy as a Boy and forwent his youth and education for this generation.  Lieber has squandered that legacy and I hear nothing but the sons of immigrants telling me how I, as a Briton, should behave.
My inheritance means that I have the right and the duty to tell all the advocates of mass immigration that I am heartily sick of being dictated to, thoughts and deeds.  Although I wish no immigrant harm, it is time that those families claiming up to £26K per annum in housing benefits alone (BBC Panorama) should go and claim it in their own country or do as my family has done for thousands of years in the British Isles, fight for YOUR rights in Your country.
It may be hard and unsavory, but it is only how our forefathers were treated after the two great conflagrations of the 20th century.  We cannot sort out or own problems of housing, domestic and industrial fuels, water, drought, law and order, railways and overcrowded roads to name but a few, without adding the woes of the world onto our children.  Many of our forefathers were granted the privilege of life on a coal face for their sacrifices of years in the trenches, not social acceptance and free schooling for their children and an entry into the political Valhalla.  When Multibrandts the Dagger talks of being proud of being British, maybe he should tell the electorate which part of him is of these Isles?

Blackpool MP earning a crust

Gordon Marsden (Blackpool South, Labour)(working overtime in Lundin)
What the Minister’s paper shows, in what it says about LEPs(legalised ejaculation points?) and skills, is that Ministers are having to reinvent the wheel on what RDAs (round do area?) did. Belatedly, they are giving powers to LEPs, wasting 12 months in the process. Does he accept that, as Members on both sides of the House have said, these powers and opportunities should also be available to second-level towns (Soweto, Punjabiville, Little Afghan), coastal towns (must get Brighton a mention), rural areas and suburban areas on the edge of cities(no real need to say there is no countryside left, it planned for building new immigrant towns on)? Will he also look at the need to combine a skills strategy with localism in those areas—something that his colleagues in the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and across the Government have so far failed to do? Or he could just steal from the pensioners as we did for fourteen years.

Thursday, 8 December 2011

Blackpool MP writes to the government

Gordon Marsden (Blackpool South, Labour)
Last year, Blackpool received from the Minister’s Department one of the worst funding settlements in the country—a cut of up to 14% on top of the area-based grant cuts. That meant that the new Labour council inherited a youth budget that had been slashed from £2 million to £1 million, which has created havoc in the co-ordinating work and activities of voluntary and third sector organisations in my constituency. If the Minister’s Department can dream up £500 million schemes like Growing Places on questionable formulae, surely it is not beyond the wit of the Department to dream up some extra funding for these organisations.
This sudden interest in all things social and regional is of interest to those with a geographical and historical perspective.  Lieber stole from the troops with their 1975 Social Security and Pensions Act, then from all the private pensions when Mugger Brown did his Robin BarStewards act on millions of pensioners who had saved for their retirements, and Gordon Marsden was conspicuous with his silence.  Yet it is strange that his home area is affluent compared with Blackpool.  Oh, and NOT a word about the looting of Heroes pensions, or ordinary working folks investments in that 14 year in office as the representative of all the folk of Blackpool!  Why the sudden interest in the youth, more suffering from the idiocy of 14 years of Lieber mathematical insanity?
Tessa Jowell has highlighted the Lunatic Lieber thinking on economics with her support of more money for next years Olympic Games with her reasoning that a loss of over £2 BILLION will be a gain to the economy. Yes, Tessa, but not in our household.  I suppose we could take another Lieber Pay-day loan out to cover the loss, at FOUR THOUSAND PERCENT INTEREST?  I suppose we'll find the answers in a Grecian Urn?

Pingat Jasa Malaysia (PJM) medal

This is why most Veterans do NOT belong to former service associations.

If you have been awarded it, no one will stop you from wearing it, unless they are a complete arsehole, and there's lots of them out there.

Terima kasih, Tuan.

Pingat Jasa Malaysia (PJM) medal

pjm_image_1.7.jpg
A statement to the press was published on the 6 Nov 2011 by the MOD which outlined that for the first time British Veterans could wear the PJM during Remembrance Events from 11 November 2011. The full statement is as follows

VETERANS TO WEAR MALAYSIA MEDAL OFFICIALLY FOR FIRST TIME

British veterans awarded the Pingat Jasa Malaysia (PJM) medal have been given permission by Her Majesty The Queen to wear it for the first time during Remembrance events next Sunday.

The Government of Malaysia introduced the medal in 2005 and awarded it to British and Commonwealth veterans who served in the conflict in Malaya in the late 1950s and 1960s.

Approval is not normally given for foreign medals to be accepted if British recognition for a campaign has already been presented. Previously, veterans had been able to accept but not wear the medal. It has now been agreed they can both accept and wear the PJM.

It's only words, and words are all they are

[Matt Baker]
Well, Jeremy, schools, hospitals, airports, even driving tests, have all been affected. Do you think the strikes have been a good idea?
[Jeremy Clarkson]
I think they have been fantastic. Absolutely. London today has just been empty. Everybody stayed at home, you can whizz about, restaurants are empty.
[Alex Jones]
The traffic, actually, has been very good today.
[Jeremy Clarkson]
Airports, people streaming through with no problems at all. And it’s also like being back in the 70s. It makes me feel at home somehow.
[Matt Baker]
Do you know anyone who has been on strike today?
[Jeremy Clarkson]
Of course I don’t, no. What, somebody public service? No, I don’t. No, absolutely. But we have to balance this though, because this is the BBC.
[Matt Baker]
Yes, exactly.
[Jeremy Clarkson]
Frankly, I’d have them all shot. I would take them outside and execute them in front of their families. I mean, how dare they go on strike when they have these gilt-edged pensions that are going to be guaranteed while the rest of us have to work for a living.
[Matt Baker]
Well, on that note of balancing an opinion, of course those are Jeremy’s views.
[Alex Jones]
Only Jeremy’s views.
[Jeremy Clarkson]
They’re not. I’ve just given two views for you.

Lieber have ordered all comedy script writers to be taken out and executed, their dead bodies to run Red, their foul mouths to be gagged and their corpses to be drawn and quartered under Halal rules. If you survive that you will be sentenced to a lifetime of listening to Lieber Party politics and forced to read Dodgy Dossiers until they grow out of your demented empty cranium.  Brains removed you will be ready to join the Huhneary party.

A Presentmas Doggies Tale

Aaagghhh!  Isn't that nice?

Thought Police arrest angry woman

So much for FREEDOM. Like it or lump it, this woman only has the right to be silent, to endure, to suffer. Is this what forty years of unfettered immigration means?

The fear that makes this woman so volatile and angry is a fear felt by millions of Britons, but a fear that hardly a single politician dare address. Holloway may soon be filled with young English mothers afraid for their children's future. Filled, because they lost control and screamed for help, but not a person of merit listened.

A woman has appeared in court after a video apparently showing a passenger abusing ethnic minority people on a south London tram was posted online.
The clip, viewed more than two million times since being uploaded to YouTube on Sunday, shows a woman sitting with a child, shouting at fellow passengers.
Emma West, of New Addington, Croydon, was accused of a racially/religiously aggravated intentional harassment.
The 34-year-old was remanded in custody while reports are prepared.
She is next due to appear at Croydon Magistrates' Court on 6 December.
British Transport Police said the YouTube clip was of an incident on the Croydon-to-Wimbledon Tramlink route.

Lawless UK genuflects to ignorance

The Political Correctness that has infested Britain since the open tap of needless immigration is now revealing itself as insidious as many predicted.Has anyone ever heard a senior policeman say, "No! Our task is to enforce LAW, not to stand aside whilst minorities live by their archaic rituals and rites?"

Having experience the modern police service, one has to wonder what their role is in this worsening society. An assault reported by a diminutive lady has been brushed aside, "for lack of evidence". Isn't that for a jury to decide? That same lady has been honoured with an interview with officials from the Ministry of InJustice, a treacherous exercise in whitewashing victims complaints into silence.

If we cannot uphold English Law, the Scots have outlawed forced marriage, then we should emigrate to the heart of the Canadian tundra and keep ourselves warm as we burn two thousand years of enshrined history.

'Honour' attack numbers revealed by UK police forces

Banaz Mahmod, who was killed on the orders of her father in 2006
Banaz Mahmod left her violent husband to be with her boyfriend, but was killed by relatives in 2006
A freedom of information request by the Iranian and Kurdish Women's Rights Organisation (Ikwro) revealed that nearly 500 of these were in London.
Among the 12 forces also able to provide figures from 2009, there was an overall 47% rise in such incidents.
Honour attacks are punishments on people, usually women, for acts deemed to have brought shame on their family.

Case study

Mohammed Saleh Ali and Omar Hussain

In 2006, Iraqi Kurd Banaz Mahmod, 20, from Mitcham, south London, was strangled on the orders of her father and uncle because they thought her boyfriend was unsuitable.

They believed she had brought shame on her family after she left her violent husband and began the relationship.

Weeks before her death, Miss Mahmod had warned police her family were trying to kill her.

Cousins Mohammed Saleh Ali and Omar Hussain, both 28, were jailed last year for a minimum of 22 and 21 years respectively for killing their relative.

The victim's father Mahmod Mahmod and uncle Ari Mahmod were jailed for life in 2007.

Up Spirits

Up Spirits: Ode to a tot of rum
There once was a time in H.M.Ships,
When the magic hour had come.
The leading hands of every mess
Prepared to collect the rum.

The smell of Jamaican filled the air
As the ritual began
A daily tot of Nelson’s Blood
Was a favourite to every man.

When the Rum Bosun stood, his measure poised
To serve every man his tot.
Two fingers always in the ‘cup ‘
Making sure that the ‘Queen ‘got her lot.’

The ‘ticker off’ was there, of course
His pencil at the ready,
With a sipper given from each man’s tot
His hand was no longer steady.

The rum rat sat, his eyes aglow
His whiskers twitching well
He liked his rum so much it seems
He could get pissed on the smell.

Sometimes the tots were passed around
As each man paid his debts
Favour, rubber, game of crib
Could cost a couple of wets.

Then came the time to sup the ‘Queens’
“God Bless Her “was the toast
A watchful eye, as each man supped.
So the Rum Bosun got the most.

Once the rum had been consumed
And nothing left to pour;
The dits began, as the ‘Grog’ took charge,
Of favourite runs ashore.

A feed, a fight, a couple of pints
Was part of a run ashore.
A game of darts was in there too
Then all night with a Pompey Lill.

No longer though, does the scent of rum
Pervade her Majesty’s boats.
No more to sup Lord Nelson’s Blood
And give the Queen her toasts.

So to all who drank Lord Nelson’s Blood
And heard the Klaxon’s blast
May old shipmates meet and share a wet
Spinning dits of the good times passed.

A toast then to Horatio
And another to the Queen.
And may we all, wherever we are
Remember where we’ve been!

True cost of not having Carriers

It just goes to show that after four centuries of having politician's mess around with Naval procurement, they've got good at being bent.
Amplify’d from www.modoracle.com

True Costs Of Scaling Back Carriers

The Government is under fire for failing to grasp the full costs of scaling back Britain’s aircraft carrier programme a year after the defence review.
An influential group of MPs has heavily criticised decisions that have left the UK with no aircraft carrier until 2020 and the costs of adapting them to take a new fighter unknown for another year.
Under the Strategic Defence and Security Review last year it was announced that two planned aircraft carriers would still go ahead with one vessel being mothballed, and the other converted to operate a cheaper version of the new Joint Strike Fighter.
Today's Public Accounts Committee report warns that those changes mean that the cost implications are not yet fully understood, the cash savings from the revised plan will only be £600 million and there remained considerable uncertainty about the cost of modyfying one of the vessels.
It accuses the Ministry of Defence of focusing on "short-term" affordability in drawing up options for the SDSR to cover a £38 billion black hole in its budget.
The committee said the MOD had "concentrated on immediate cash savings and short-term affordability, and did not focus strongly on long-term value for money".
"The department believes that the SDSR decision will save £3.4 billion, but only £600 million of this is cash savings while the remainder is simply deferring expenditure beyond the department's 10-year planning horizon."

Blackpool Cliffs Hotel fall in on ill woman

Aren't you just proud to be Sandgrown? There's a whole generation proclaiming the title, but none of them know what it means.

To the rip-off merchants, whether they be bogus former soldiers collecting for the injured and bereaved, or the straight forward scam monger, a word in your delicate. We have enough of your types on the Council past and recent without everyone trying to get in on the act. It's time for you to get back into your sewers and leave the decent people alone.

Would this lady be the Blackpool bogus Royal Marine major, there would be headlines in the local Gasjet and cries or feigned outrage. What wanton hypocrisy and awful double standards. I gather there's no invite to her from the bogus Hero's birthday celebrations to make amends for the grass insults?

Cruel hotel bosses offer dying mum 'future' discount after billing her £218 for trip she missed through illness

Angie Stephen
A MUM dying of cancer has been hit with a £218 bill for cancelling a hotel trip because she was too ill to go.
And when Angie Stephen - who fears she might not live past Christmas, complained - bosses responded by offering her s50 off a "future stay".
She said: "I won't be able to take up their offer. I'm barely well enough now to get out of the house."
Angie, 43, was booked into the Cliffs Hotel in Blackpool for a final holiday with son Connor, 13, and some close friends last month.
Pals raised the cash for the break and any money left over would have been used to help support Connor in the future.

Fraudster who conned war veterans & pensioners out of £28k over fake battlefield tours faces justice

John Lennox
A BATTLEFIELD tours conman who swindled war veterans, disabled pensioners and schoolchildren out of almost s30,000 is finally being brought to justice.
Smooth-talking crook John Lennox set up bogus companies who advertised and sold foreign breaks to historic war sites and graveyards - then failed to deliver on them.
Lennox, 48, demanded huge deposits before sending fake letters to his clients confirming travel arrangements, hotel accommodation and tour itineraries. But he never made a single booking.
The fictitious trips offered by Lennox commemorated anniversaries of battles such as Arnhem and the Normandy D-Day landings from World War II, and Ypres from World War I.
The callous conman, who was also known as Ian, targeted the most vulnerable in society over three years - from 90-year-old war heroes to school kids.
Last month, following a major Trading Standards investigation, the divorced father-of-three admitted fraudulently obtaining £27,855.
He is due to be sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Court today.
Among his victims were a group of former paratroopers from Fife.

With Blackpool infamous for being the New Capitol of Scotland, this story is sad for many reasons.  One being Blackpool police's inability to investigate Blackpool veteran's who were conned as their comrades North of the Border have been duped.  The evidence is indisputable especially in the case of Veteran Royal Marine Derek Coyle, who spent the 6th of June 1944 fighting for his life in the channel alongside the Normandy beaches after his landing craft was sunk beneath him.
Never before able to return, the disabled Hero was supposed to join a veterans group with his family, to visit the very beach he had put his life in danger to free;  but he never got there.  Shortly before he was to embark, he was informed by an organizer and discredited former Councillor that he had been omitted from the party.  The outcry from the organisation, for which Mr Coyle is now President, is so much of a cowardly whimper which comes of little surprise to the high number of local former Royal Marine Commandos who are not members of this local Association.  That the former Councillor is still actively duping locals that he is the panacea for service welfare when he has not the competence or authority, is destroying the ethos and hard earned reputations of those caseworkers who have given freely, time and care for their former comrades.  It is also a sop to those who have spent years qualifying the the intricacies of care.
It makes one wonder how many others were left floundering in Blackpool whist the ne'er-do-wells went off on a freebie -paid for by the charity Heroes Return - in the Heroes stead?  Answers please to the Shop on Bank Hey street.
