Cpl Stephen Walker
The Bootneck from 40 Commando Royal Marines, had been wounded in a blast near Patrol Base Almas, in Sangin, Helmand Province.
The MoD said he had been conducting a joint foot patrol with the Afghan national army at the time.
His death brings the British death toll since operations began in 2001 to 286.
So sorry to hear of another casualty of the war in Afghanistan. Stephen Walker was obviously an extremely capable and experienced soldier. My thoughts are with Leona and the rest of his family and colleagues at this time. I have created a tribute dedicated to Stephen at Friends At Rest (http://www.friendsatrest.com/2515/memorials/stephen-walker/). May he rest in peace.
