Mugabe today - 8th April 2008

The "Veterans" are out in force again. Something they never once achieved pre-1980. For all those who have tinted views of the "Independence Struggle" lets get facts straight. The Rhodesian Army was never subdued in the years of fighting. Cowardly acts by the likes of Generals Hickman and Walls sold out the Whites and a massive group of Blacks, straight down the Zambezi.
The Rhodesian Army patrolled in sticks of 4 or 5, sometimes supported by the most audacious fighting group imaginable, Fire Force. This Fighting Elite would be either the White Rhodesian Light Infantry, or my own Regiment, the Rhodesian African Rifles. Tactics adopted then could be used in Afghanistan now, if the politicians had the courage to finance the War correctly.
I read in a recent obituary that a former Red Beret of the Parachute Regiment had over 400 operational jumps to his credit. That is not possible as Operations never covered such a scope. What was meant was that he had jumped from RAF transport that number of times. Well done, sir. All credit to you.
Now compare that to a troopie in Fire Force. They sat ready at a central airbase awaiting the call, parachutes packed and kit carried. At an instants notice they boarded the Old Daks and were flown over the contact area and jumped as low as the pilot thought safe, jump straight into the fire of the enemy on the ground. Three helicopters followed the attack, recovered the chutes, the injured and any prisoners. Then they ferried the sticks back to base camp. This procedure could happen, and did, as often as five times in a day. Now that is operational jumping. In a three month tour, the lads could do hundreds of operational jumps, and drink gallons of Castle.

These wonderful Veterans soon learned that if they stood and fought they would be killed, and they were. So these Veterans that Mugabe is turning out are remnants of a cowardly and disgraced bunch of thugs, who are too young to have been engaged in the War, and should be placed in the Hague for Crimes Against Humanity for the murder of 60.000 Ndebele and scores of White Farmers.
Anyone who thought that Mugabe would do anything other than what he is doing, is an idiot.
