Is the Government privatising the Fire Brigade?

Revealed: it looks like the government is planning to privatise our fire service. It's trying to sneak in new laws that "would enable fire and rescue authorities in England to contract out their full range of services to a suitable provider". [1]

Every day, fire crews put their lives in danger to keep us safe. Within minutes of an emergency, we can expect fire engines to be there to save lives and protect our property. Privatising these vital services might seem crazy. But that’s exactly what the government is trying to slip through a hush-hush parliamentary committee. [2]

Let’s make sure the government knows we’re watching. We’ve seen bad ideas get much too far before. We need to move fast to show the government that we want a fire service whose priority is protecting people's lives, not making profit. Our fire service is a precious emergency service that we all depend on for our lives and our safety. Between 2011 and 2012, English firefighters attended 606,000 incidents. [3] If the government is allowed to sell the fire service off to private companies, then the essence of our fire service, a service for all of us whenever we need it, might be lost forever.

Private companies have been circling the fire service for years. [4] They recognise that money can be made and they want to piggyback off a service the public holds dear.

The government can’t afford another big battle over privatisation. It'll know that 38 Degrees members were responsible for stopping the sell-off of our forests and making sure the NHS changes were as controversial as possible. [5]

The remarks by Notyetavet were on this site (above, the Consumer Action Group forum) for about 30 minutes before being deleted.  This site at least gave us an opportunity to highlight the power of unrestricted intimidation.  Remember, all it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.
If Marston's can threaten an obscure web holder into unnecessary censorship, imaging what an overbearing thug can do at the home of schoolchildren?   There's no need for imagination.  The fallout of their infamy was left by a Cash Machine on the damp and freezing Accrington pavement by a bailiff who then went on to illegally try to extort money from an Accrington garage owner.  This is the same body that used physical force against two lady demonstrators and the London Police did nothing, the MoJ who had two officials in attendance at that function has done nothing and now Consumer Action Group submits to intimidation.
There are movements afoot to silence and restrict Leveson as dirty money proves that wealth and cash - or is it Mr Cache - can distort morality and pervert the Rule of Law.  Not only have we handed the country over to the unscrupulous, mindless Labour Supporter, but we castigate everyone who dares utter such words of wisdom that never brightened the Socialista, nihilistic mindset as with the castigation of Dr David Starkey by the lap dogs to stupidity in the Gutter Press.
Only recently, with the head of Marston’s lauding it on the Stephen Nolan programme, I was left at the end of a telephone line trying to confront him with some truths and not the sickening platitudes he was voicing to Radio 5 listeners.  Needless to say I could get through to the programme, had a researcher aghast at the villainy of this evil corporation, but could not get to speak to Marston’s voicepiece in and on an unfettered media.
Still, £4 billion per annum has lots of sway!!!
