July deadliest month in Iraq for two years
An injured Iraqi man is wheeled into a local hospital after a suicide bomber killed 43 people in an attack last month

The figures released late Saturday show that 535 people were killed last
month, the highest since May 2008 when 563 died, heightening concerns over Iraq’s
precarious security situation even as the U.S. troops are reducing their
numbers.

When former deputy Prime Minister John Prescott dismissed the 157 British deaths in Iraq, he betrayed the cowardice that is endemic in politics and especially in the last Government..
For all anoraks who have suffered 13 years of maladministation, one has to remember it is the fault of the electorate. This scum that passes as the ruling classes are only an extention of the franchise we give them. Some of us who have fought these campaigns raised the spectre of failure long before we followed America into the desert.
For failure, both here and in Afghanistan is as inevitable as night follows day.
It has taken Britain a thousand years to reach this point where our civilisation is going backwards. In the interim we had magnificent literature, art and science. It is all being lost with the loss of freedoms to criticise and demonstrate leading the way.
