Blackpool & Fylde CAMRA
On behalf of the Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre branch of CAMRA I'd like to thank all those who turned up at last weekend's 37th Fleetwood Beer and Cider Festival and by having a couple of drinks made it a wonderful success! You drank about 1500 pints of real ale, 500 pints of cider and perry and cleared out the world beer bar. In doing so you raised a record of over £450 for Fleetwood RNLI! We hope you enjoyed yourselves, we did, and are happy to announce that subject to all the boring stuff like budgetary approval, we hope to be back for the 38th festival at the wonderful Marine Hall between the 6th until the 8th February 2020. Get it penciled in your diary now, see you there!
I'd also like to publicly thank all the volunteers that worked so hard to stage the festival and the staff of the Marine Hall who make us so very welcome. Thanks ladies and gents, we couldn't do it without you!
Just before the festival, the Branch decided on its Pub and Club of the Year for 2019. So congratulations to The Craft House in Lytham for being voted as our Pub of the Year for 2019. We will be presenting the award there on 7th March at around 8pm. All welcome, although the place is a little small to hold all 2760 branch members! We will also be presenting Silver, runners-up, Pub of the Year awards to the Thatched House, Poulton (14th March at approx 8pm), The Poulton Elk, Poulton (date to be confirmed, check our website) and Fifteens of St Annes (also date TBC). Our Club of the Year is once again Blackpool Cricket Club, congratulations to them. Their presentation is also still to be confirmed. The Craft House and Blackpool Cricket Club now go forward to the Lancashire competition.
We will also be presenting our Spring Pub of the Season award to the Stanley Arms, in Wesham on 11th April from about 8pm. Congratulations also to them!
Please note that our branch AGM will be held at Blackpool Cricket Club on 25th April 2019 at 8pm. All Branch members are welcome to attend, but to vote you will need to bring a valid membership card. All Committee posts are open for re-election, nomination forms will be appearing on the Branch web site in the next few days and must be returned to the Branch Secretary by noon on the 25th April.

Evidence from a GangRape victim
Something similar to this happened to my English friends daughter. It has left her a wreck. The depths the child has shrank into is unbelievably evil.
It is happening all over England to English children.
The only way to make stop is to believe the children, clamp down hard on authorities, police and eventually the criminals and ACT without prejudice.
The perpetrators, irrespective of their age, culture or creed, should be removed from society immeditely and care given to ALL abused chidren.
People Voice again ignored by Government over BBC
The Government has responded to the petition you signed – “Revoke the BBC's Royal Charter.”.
Government responded:
Government responded:
The government strongly believes the Royal Charter is the best framework to safeguard the BBC’s independence and ensure the broadcaster effectively serves all audiences.
The BBC is one of the UK’s most treasured institutions and is part of the social and economic fabric of the country. It is a great source of national pride and no other country in the world has anything quite like it.
The Royal Charter is the constitutional basis of the BBC. It guarantees the BBC’s independence and provides the framework for how the BBC is governed and funded. The Charter allows the BBC to continue to thrive, deliver for all audiences, and be an engine of creativity and growth in the UK. The establishment of the current Charter was an extensive process of consultation and evidence gathering, with 192,000 responses to the public consultation and engagement with over 300 organisations and industry experts.
The BBC is operationally and editorially independent of government and there is no provision for the government to intervene in the BBC’s day-to-day operations. Independence and impartiality are embedded in the Charter and the BBC’s public purposes. The BBC Board is responsible for ensuring the BBC delivers its Charter obligations, including its mission and public purposes. The BBC Board is also responsible for ensuring the BBC adheres to its editorial guidelines. As the external independent regulator of the BBC, it is Ofcom’s responsibility to hold the BBC to account in fulfilling its mission and public purposes. Alongside this, the Ofcom Broadcasting Code requires all broadcasters, including the BBC, to report and present news with due accuracy and impartiality.
We considered the question of funding during the BBC Charter Review process. While no funding model meets all the criteria of an ideal system, the current model provides the BBC with a sustainable core income paid by all households that watch or receive television. This model also has wider public support than any alternative - 60% of consultation responses indicated that no change was needed to the current licence fee model, and only 3% favoured full subscription funding. That is why we have committed to maintain the licence fee funding model for the BBC for the duration of this current 11 year Charter period.
